What’s Happening in Boca Raton This October: Local Events, Fall Fun, and Things to Do
October in Boca Raton is a little different from October up north.
We’re not exactly crunching through piles of leaves in sweaters while sipping hot cider.
It may still be 80-something degrees.
The palm trees are still palm trees.
And if you put on a wool scarf for the aesthetic, I’m going to assume you’re committed to the photo.
But October is still a fun month here.
There are nature programs, family events, Halloween activities, things for dogs, stargazing, and plenty of reasons to get out of the house and enjoy where we live.
So if you’re looking for Boca Raton events in October 2026, I pulled together some of the local happenings still ahead this month.
And yes, there’s a dog event.
You knew there would be.

Boca Raton Events in October 2026 Include Plenty of Outdoor Fun
One of the things I like about October in Boca is that the local calendar starts feeling busier again.
Season is beginning to wake up and people are coming back.
There are more community events, more outdoor activities, and more reasons to leave the house without immediately searching for the nearest air-conditioned building.
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center has several October programs on the calendar, including Island Treks, an After Hours Tour, nature workshops, and other activities throughout the month.
That alone gives you a few good excuses to spend some time outside.
Spend an Evening at Gumbo Limbo
If you live in Boca Raton and haven’t spent much time at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, October gives you several opportunities.
One that caught my attention is the After Hours Tour on Friday, October 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
The tour takes visitors through the open-air butterfly garden, Ashley Nature Trail, and outdoor aquariums, with sunset views over the Intracoastal. It’s for adults and children age 7 and older, and advance reservations are required. The City currently lists the cost at $10 for residents and $13 for non-residents.
That sounds like a pretty good Boca Friday evening to me.

Gumbo Limbo also has Island Treks during October. These guided walks take visitors along the shaded boardwalk through the tropical hardwood hammock, with Intracoastal views through the mangroves and a finish at the observation tower.
Sometimes we get so used to living near beautiful places that we forget to actually go enjoy them.
Consider this your reminder.
Halloween by the Sea Is One for the Little Ones
On Sunday, October 18, Gumbo Limbo is also hosting Halloween by the Sea.
This one is designed for younger children, with preschool games, crafts, treats, and a chance to take a photo with Luna the sea turtle mascot. The City lists sessions from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., with resident and non-resident pricing.
So if you have little pumpkins in your household, this could be a fun one.
And yes, I just said little pumpkins. October made me do it.
Look Up: Eyes to the Skies at Sugar Sand Park
Here’s one that’s a little different.
On Monday, October 19, the Children’s Science Explorium is hosting Eyes to the Skies from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.
It’s a free telescope night held in the Camino parking lot behind the Explorium, weather permitting. The program uses computerized telescopes and stargazing apps and is recommended for ages 8 and up. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the City says an indoor inflatable planetarium may be used instead.
I love this because it’s one of those local events you might completely miss unless someone tells you about it.
And no, you don’t have to know anything about astronomy.
Looking up and saying “Oh wow” is enough.

Boo-ca Boo Days Takes Over the Rest of October
Boca Raton is leaning all the way into Halloween this year with Boo-ca Boo Days, a month-long lineup of programs at parks, libraries, nature centers, and recreation facilities.
There’s quite a range.
Among the events still ahead are Ghostly Glows and Ghoulish Gases at the Children’s Science Explorium on October 17 and 18, Pumpkin Pals Make & Take at Sugar Sand Park on October 17, and The History Behind: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at the Spanish River Library on October 21.
Later in the month, the City has Monster Mash at the Swim Center on October 25, followed by a busy October 30 that includes Spooky Tennis, an outdoor showing of Hocus Pocus, Creepy Crawlies at the Chickee Lab, and a Night Explorers Nocturnal Hike at Gumbo Limbo.
So apparently Boca has decided one day of Halloween is insufficient.
I respect the commitment.
Some programs are free, while others require registration or charge resident and non-resident fees, so check the City’s current details before you head out.

And Now for the Important Part: Howl-O-Ween
Obviously, we need to discuss Howl-O-Ween.
On Saturday, October 24, the City is hosting a free dog-centered Halloween event from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Countess de Hoernle Park / Spanish River Athletic Facility.
And this isn’t just “bring your dog and stand around.”
The current schedule includes:
- Muttville Comix Dog Show at 9:30 a.m.
- Howl-O-Weener Dog Race Contest at 10:30 a.m.
- Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest at 11:30 a.m.
- Trail of Treats
- Photo booth
- Crafts
- Paw Spa
- Sit, Stay, Chill Lounge
- Hydration station
- Community partners
- Sponsor giveaways
The City also lists free nail trims and other pet-care activities as part of the event.
I have questions about how seriously some Boca dogs are taking their costume preparation.
Actually, I don’t. I already know the answer. Very seriously.

Please Note: The City requires dogs to remain leashed, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them. Dogs showing aggressive behavior may need to be moved away from the activity or leave the event.

There’s Plenty to Do Even If Halloween Isn’t Your Thing
Not everyone wants pumpkins, costumes, or fake spiderwebs hanging from everything they own.
That’s fine.
October still has plenty of non-Halloween options.
Gumbo Limbo’s regular nature programming continues throughout the month, including guided walks and workshops.
Eyes to the Skies gives you something completely different.
There are recreation programs, community events, library activities, and other City programs happening throughout October too.
Sometimes the best part of living somewhere isn’t one big attraction, it’s having choices.
You can go out.
You can stay close to home.
You can walk a nature trail.
You can bring the dog.
You can stare at the stars.
You can also stay home and order dinner.
Again, choices.
Local Events Are Part of the Boca Raton Lifestyle
When people talk to me about moving to Boca Raton, the conversation usually starts with the home.
How many bedrooms?
Condo or single-family home?
Gated or not gated?
Pool?
Waterfront?
Country club?
Pet rules?
But eventually, we get to the question that may be even more important: What will my life actually look like here?
That’s where local events, parks, recreation, restaurants, beaches, nature centers, community programs, and things to do start becoming part of the real estate conversation.
You’re not buying four walls in isolation. You’re choosing the place where you’ll spend your mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and Tuesday afternoons when you decide you need to leave the house.
That’s one reason I talk so much about lifestyle when I help buyers.
I’ve lived in Boca Raton since 1994.
I don’t just want you to know what a listing says about the house, I want you to understand what living here can actually feel like.

October Is a Pretty Good Time to Be in Boca
Yes, it’s still warm.
No, we’re probably not getting sweater weather.
And your pumpkin may have very different expectations about its lifespan here than it would in New York.
But October in Boca has its own personality.
There’s more activity.
Season is beginning to wake up.
People are returning.
Community calendars get busier.
There are things happening outdoors again without everyone immediately calculating how far they are from air conditioning.
And there’s something nice about getting out and enjoying the city you call home.
Or the city you’re thinking about calling home.
That’s why I like sharing posts like this along with my real estate content.
Homes are important, but so is what happens once you walk out the front door.
